This time has FLOWN BY. I just love it more and more everyday I am here.((:
We met with our Syrian family again! We were able to give them an Arabic Book of Mormon and pamphlets for them to read. This time we just showed them a video and we had the main words translated so they could understand a little better than just watching. It was really cool! The language barrier is hard- but getting to teach in other languages is a fun experience I didn't expect to have in Tucson lol.
Dennis took us all out to breakfast the other day to Black Bear Diner (which was so fun) and then we met up afterwards for a lesson with him. Funny story, there was this ladder right next to where we were sitting and a HUGE gust of wind came through and it took that thing right out. It was like 2 inches from crushing all our little heads. Dennis looked up from reading and said, "Good thing we were reading the Book of Mormon!" lol.
We had a lesson with this couple last week. One of them has been battling in court cases with her mom for awhile (she has legal custody of her) and refused to let her see the missionaries. She finally won and we were able to meet with her and set a baptism date with both of them! We are so excited to start working with them again!
Last night we went on splits with the other sisters in the ward because we were all determined to hit our goals as a district (because DL was makin bread if we did lol jk) but so we were out talking to people and we ended up coming up to this guy and at first it was super weird and didn't think we would get very far. He is Jehovah Witness and had said that he explored all different religions but none of them sat with him right. We had this super long conversation about everything and he was very fascinated by all the things that Sister Miller and I were talking about. We ended up talking to the two guys at a bus stop for an hour and a half. They just would let the bus keep going by lol, it was amazing! We are meeting with him again this week. (Yes, we did meet our goals !!! )
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: I was reading in the Book of Mormon this week about King Noah, Abinadi, and Alma. It made me think really hard about everything Abinadi did while he was teaching, he was persecuted, ignored, (and eventually killed)- but he pushed through those things to share the message that he had. And he was only able to convert one... Alma. Almost is a little discouraging, but because of that ONE, many many people were converted after that. Sometimes it is kind of sad to get rejected a lot by people you meet- but Abinadi is a perfect example of putting our strength in the Lord and continuing despite those things. He works through all of us differently and has a perfect plan for how everything is going to work out. I think it's incredible.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD WEEK! LOVE YOU!
