YOU'RE NOT GONNA WANNA MISS THIS WEEK
THIS WAS THE CRAZIEST WEEK I AM JUST GOING TO JUMP RIGHT IN.
Tuesday: (ZONE CONFERENCE)
LOVED. IT. To summarize, we talked about how to rise up in our calling. Remember when I talked about doing the "I oughts" over the "I wants"? Well that has been brought up in a lot of different ways, and one thing I liked from it was that it's not always about "enduring" everything, it's about changing your desires so that the things we "ought to do" become what we want to do. Our desires are the things that change us, I have loved being able to see the ways that my mission has changed me. This sounds so cheesy, but my mission saved me in so many ways. There were a lot of things I didn't understand the importance of and wasn't as strong spiritually as I should've been, or even thought I was!!! I don't think I really realized what I was signing up for when I came out here as well, but I am SO GRATEFUL for this experience and the things that I am learning. EVERYONE needs to go on a mission, there is nothing like it. I LOVE IT. It has already blessed me so much and changed my outlook on everything later in life as well.
Wednesday:
OKAY SO FUNNY STORY!!! Remember when I said I would never clean cockroach houses again?(; I LIED. The home we cleaned the first time was told he would be evicted if he didn't get rid of the problem, but because he refused to let the bug guys come, they kicked him out. So here is where we came in(;
9:00am us and the other Pima sisters, and President Swensen showed up and NOTHING was packed. We went through this home (very much unkept) trying not to step on all the cockroaches. They were everywhere. We just started filling up trash bags with whatever we could pick up that wasn't trash and would load the uhaul up. After the uhaul was packed, we took a break for lunch.
12:00 back to business but this time only with President Swensen. Once we packed all that he had asked us to, we unloaded it all into the new apartment. (Which thankfully was a complex right next door). We were just about to leave when a maintance guy was talking to us outside the old apartment and he said that because this guy was leaving so much behind (he wanted to leave most of his furniture and random things) he was going to get charged thousands of dollars for them to clean it up... he was NOT going to be able to afford that because him and his wife are both on disability... so we signed ourselves to be the second "clean up crew"... LUCKILY we found some shopping carts lying around and decided to use those to get rid of some of the stuff. (haha just picture some sister missionaries rolling shopping carts full of trash, etc through the complex... it was awkward).
BUT the whole time that we were moving, there was a room in the house that we "weren't allowed to enter" so once we realized we had to get rid of everything, we went in. It was their step sons room who was in a rehab after recently having a heart sugery. Our guy wanted us to throw all of it away??? Long story short we went on an hour long hunt to find what rehab place he was in so we could ask what he personally wanted to keep.
Thursday:
We did not finish so we got almost our whole zone to come help us this morning HAHA. Every companionship had a shopping cart by that point so we were HAULING. Sadly... after almost finishing, we realized that we had filled 2 dumpsters and 2 recycling dumpsters... so we all had to jump in the recycling dumpsters to throw everything in there- into the real dumpster. PAIN.
ALSO, if all of this wasn't icing on the cake before. We were almost postive that all he had was cockroaches, until... the mattress... Sister Johnson went to go pick it up and Swensen yelled to drop it. FULLL of bed bugs. TRAGIC. It caused panick for all the different companionships that were there HAHA. Thankfully we went and got this stuff to spray all over ourselves and our apartments. We washed the crap outta all those clothes. So no worries, but it was scary.
The next day we spent a good time helping president swensen with yard work because he had given up two working days to help this guy out... so that's what we did. The day after that, we helped these two older women with their yardwork. SO this WHOLE week was full of service and a couple awesome lessons. It was CRAZY. I tried to keep the stories as short as I could HAHA.
We have an awesome investigator who only speaks portuguese and very little english. We teach her completely by translating apps. IT'S INCREDIBLE. She loves learning from us and so we hope to continue teaching her and finding more members who can speak portuguese HAHA.
ALSO, we had a BBQ for dinner with President Swensen this past week and while we were there we invited our investigator Dennis. We got to talking, and since we have been teaching him he has had a really hard time fully committing to a bap date, but during dinner he paused us, and was like "I think I am ready. I have met with a lot of missionaries, but you two have helped me so much and I think it's about time I get baptized." SO HE IS GETTING BAPTIZED. He has the jumpsuit and everything worked out to get baptized the 26th of this month. We are so excited for him!!!
Sunday, we had 8 of our investigators come to church, it was amazing! They are all making such good progress! I was asked to speak on Sunday last week and I guess there was a confusion, so within the crazy week I found time to write a talk and then showed up to sacrament to find out I wasn't speaking. Then we were asked to teach during second and third hour and it was all very confusing HAHA, I love being a missionary everybody. There's no stress at all(;
WOW SORRY THAT WAS SO LONG, BUT THIS WEEK WAS SO HECTIC AND AWESOME I LOVED IT. I hope you all enjoy this long, but actually so brief in comparison to the week, email(: LOVE YOU ALL!
